Puppy School

We are delighted to be able to offer Puppy School at the surgery. Puppy school is a great way to socialise your puppy in a controlled, fun and interactive way. The core window for socialisation is recommended between the age of 8-14 weeks, and during this development phase, we recommend that your puppy is exposed to new sounds, sights and situations. During our puppy school we will help you train your puppy with key training techniques, some of these techniques include, sit, stay, recall, drop and reading body language. We will discuss important topics such as neutering, vaccinating, insurance, parasite control, grooming and dental care.

Puppy school will help develop your puppies’ social skills around both other owners and new puppy friends, whilst the training games are both fun and challenging. The course is run by one of our experienced nurses who specialises specifically in canine behaviour. Each week during the course you will have the opportunity to discuss any behavioural issues or techniques that will help you with your training. Our class numbers are kept small (no more than 8) so each puppy is given the attention they require for training. It is also important that puppies are not overwhelmed by large classes which can be disruptive.

Good socialisation is the best way to ensure a friendly, well-adjusted puppy. Check out our facebook page for the latest graduates. Courses are run over 4 consecutive weeks, back to back. Please contact the practice if you would like to reserve your place on our next course.
